I word from the Chair
Hello Members and Non-members just stopping by to check us out. If you are a Non-member looking to get underground please come to a meeting and join us.
As many of you may already know. White Nose Syndrome has affected large colonies of bats in New York and potentially threaten Bats in larger regions. As far as I know, only the Tytoona Preserve near Altoona, PA is on the closed cave list of Pennsylvania due to the White Nose Syndrome. There have been no cases of White Nose Syndrome in Pennsylvania, but the NSS has closed Tytoona to be on the safe side. Most caves in the Schoharie region of New York are closed until further notice. Many Caves in West Virgina have been closed for precautionary resons. The Cause of White Nose Syndrome has not been determined yet. For more information on the subject please go to: www.white-nose.info
If you plan on going caving soon, please make sure the cave is open and take precautions necessary to protect the Bats.
