Welcome to the Philly Grotto!

The Philadelphia Grotto is a not-for-profit organization promoting cave study, exploration, education, and conservation for more than 70 years. Members of the Philly Grotto participate in caving activities around the country and internationally. We are part of the National Speleological Society and work with other grottos and caving organizations to protect caves and encourage people to get underground.

Our grotto holds monthly meetings, beginner and advanced caving trips, and skills practices. Our meetings are great places to learn about caving, meet other cavers, and view photos of and presentations on some of these beautiful worlds beneath our feet. At grotto meetings, upcoming trips and local caving events are publicized so beginner and advanced cavers can learn of opportunities to go caving.

We would love to share our passion for caves with you. We invite you to attend a meeting and join us on one of our caving trips. We hope you can discover the joy and excitement that comes from caving.

Thanks for stopping by.
